Introducing Wynberg Online High School – Combining Innovation & Tradition

Tuesday 6 October 2020: As Wynberg Boys’ High School approaches the 180th anniversary of its beginnings in Glebe Cottage, 2021 will see the next evolution in its proud academic heritage, the Wynberg Online High School.

Born in the midst of the Covid19 pandemic, the idea of a formal, private high school to cater to distance education took root and grew quickly based on the positive experiences of students and teachers alike during the months of enforced, and necessary, online learning. Headmaster, Jan de Waal, is confident that the launch of the Wynberg Online High School will provide an option for students still struggling for placement at a high school of their choice, and who’ve already adapted and embraced online learning, to be part of the Wynberg family in a “values-based education system with the strong pastoral element for which WBHS is known.”

Wynberg Boys’ High can currently accommodate only 200 of over 1400 Grade 8 applications annually. With a shortage of high schools in the Western Cape, the Wynberg Online High School provides an affordable, private option for students eager to embrace the benefits of asynchronous learning under the Caps curriculum.

The project launches for Grade 8s in January 2021 at the start of the new academic year, with applications accepted until 31 October 2020.
