Our School
fostering Comprehensive Development and Innovating Learning Experiences
At Wynberg Boys’ High School we understand that the experience boys receive at school will determine the men they are capable of becoming. We believe that a thorough and well-rounded education is paramount in providing all students with the foundations they will build upon for the remainder of their lives.
This is why we place importance on all four pillars of Wynberg excellence, academic, sport, service and culture. Life at Wynberg Boys’ High School is rich, varied, exciting, and enormously rewarding.
On the 1st July 1841, John McNaughton opened the doors of his new school, the ‘Established School at Wynberg’ in Glebe Cottage. Newly arrived from Scotland, he found himself teaching in a single room with 65 pupils.
In terms of the Government policy of the day, it was specifically laid down that there was to be no prejudice in terms of colour, creed or gender. It was also reported that the young Headmaster soon made a name for himself insisting on good grooming.
Our rigorous academic programmes ensure that all students are equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to become effective and influential members of our society.
Our holistic approach recognises the roles of all stakeholders in the academic journey; students, parents and staff to ensure that Wynberg students are fully supported to achieve academic excellence.
