Essay Competition: Wynberg Authors Make the Grade

Tuesday 7 July 2020: Wynberg takes great pleasure in recognising the unique achievement by our English Department in the recent Learning Under Lockdown essay contest initiated by Professor Jonathan Jansen of Stellenbosch University.

Not only are thirteen of our students to be published in the book of 400 essays due for publication in August, but our Head of English, Ms Jocelyn de Mink’s, own essay which went viral on social media during May this year, is to be included in the volume as the only non-student work in the publication.

“Thank you for the stories you submitted on behalf of your students … I’m so pleased to let you know we’ve decided to include your Learning under Lockdown story in the book – it is the only non-student story! It was so well written and provides a different angle – impossible to deny!”

Congratulations to the students whose work will appear in the printed publication – we look forward to sharing your essays online:

Kieron Adams, Ben Boulle, Tanweer Chiktay, Lezane Davis, Muizz Khan, Chris Kleynhans, Stephen Lang, Panashe Hilton Magwere, Liam Peffer, Uzair Sarvan, Kian Scholtz, Anthony van Eyssen, and Caleb Voskuil.
