Wynberg Music Heads on Tour

After months of correspondence, meetings, planning, fundraising, and rehearsals, I am pleased to announce that our Music Tour of the Garden Route will depart on Friday, 27 June.

We will spend 9 days performing and sightseeing, and flying high the musical flag of Wynberg! The tour comprises four performing ensembles: Concert Band – directed by Mr Peter Catzavelos, Jazz Band and Pipe Band – directed by Mr Jonathan Chuter, and the Vocal Ensemble – directed by Mrs Natalie Karg. Mr Richard Haigh has planned the tour and is Teacher in Charge, and Mr Jan de Waal has taken on the role of Tour Manager, acting as the liaison person for much of the logistics behind the scenes. Crucially important to the success of this tour has been the parents’ fundraising committee, comprised of Mrs Renee Roman as Chairlady, Mrs Alison Wilson, Mrs Suene Taljaard, and Mrs Mariette Barnett, who have spent many hours planning and coordinating fundraising opportunities. There have been a number of occasions over the last 9 months where the parents of our boys in the band have volunteered in fundraising initiatives led by the parents’ committee, and this has provided much-needed income to lower the total cost and provide the boys with some lovely excursions during the tour.

The following performances are confirmed. We invite anyone connected to the Wynberg family to attend these, should you be in the Garden Route during the mid-year school holidays:

  • Friday 27 June 9 am, Applewood School, Grabouw
  • Saturday 28 June 8 am George Park Run, Botanical Gardens (Pipe Band only)

  • Friday 4 July 2.30 pm Seefront Amphitheatre, ATKV, Hartenbos
  • Saturday 5 July 9.30 am Greyton Market outside N G Kerk, Greyton

We look forward to meeting familiar faces along the road. And please do come and introduce yourselves!
