Career Opportunity: School Receptionist

Wynberg Boys’ High School is seeking an organised and friendly professional Receptionist with excellent communication skills and a warm and welcoming personality to ensure the smooth operation of our front office.

 KEY PERFORMANCE FIELDS:

  • Welcoming parents, visitors, and boys to the office in a professional and friendly manner, ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Handling incoming calls, transferring them to the appropriate person or department, and taking messages accurately.
  • Receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail or parcels and managing outgoing mail and couriers.
  • Ensuring the reception area is clean, organised, and presentable, including arranging seating and displaying informative materials.
  • Answering general inquiries and providing information to visitors and callers.
  • Maintaining and controlling the visitor register at reception.
  • Performing various clerical tasks such as filing, emailing, photocopying, and data entry.
  • Keeping records up to date, including client information and correspondence.
  • Assisting visitors, staff, and students in a friendly and professional manner, handling enquiries, and resolving issues.
  • Prioritising tasks and managing time effectively to ensure the smooth operation of the front desk.
  • Maintaining student attendance records and updating school databases.
  • Supporting school staff with general office duties as needed.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks.
  • Coordinating all inquiries and managing activities including membership of Club 365.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
  •  3- 4 years of experience (previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role in a school environment would be an advantage).
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Good telephone etiquette.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), use of the internet, and general office equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A friendly, professional, and approachable demeanour.
  • Knowledge of school management systems, for example, Cemis, Engage.
  • First aid level 1 certification (Advantageous)
